Faculty-Undergraduate Student Engagement (FUSE) Grants

WKU undergraduate student conducts field work with faculty mentor on International FUSE Grant for presentation at Student Scholar Showcase

 

Are you interested in research, travel, and hands-on learning? Looking for a strong resume builder?  Want to work closely with a faculty expert who will mentor you?

FUSE grants provide funding for faculty-mentored undergraduate research, creative projects, and scholarly activities, supporting undergraduate students’ intellectual, academic, and career development by fostering active engagement in research, creative and scholarly activities, and artistic performances.

Eligibility

All undergraduate students in good academic standing who will reach at least sophomore status at the time of award may apply. FUSE is especially well-suited for sophomore and junior-level undergraduates.

Apply for FUSE  For the Spring 2027 cycle, the submission window to apply within the SPIRIT portal will open on September 4, 2026.

These are excellent opportunities for undergraduate students to present their research and creative work (they are not funding programs):

Student Scholar Showcase

Held annually in the Spring at WKU, this event showcases the scholarly, research, and creative activities of WKU students across all disciplines. Learn More

Posters at the Capitol

A prestigious, competitive statewide event held in Frankfort, KY. Only four undergraduates from each Kentucky public university are selected to present their faculty-mentored research to state legislators and policymakers. Learn More
