College admission is a competitive process, and ACT scores often play a key role in determining if students get accepted into the school of their choice or receive academic scholarships.
Being prepared for the ACT exam gives students the edge they need to excel on this vital exam, so the WKU Owensboro campus will bring an ACT Summer Institute to students in the region.
The ACT Summer Institute is a 4-day intensive program that offers an in-depth review of ACT exam materials. The Institute is led by highly-trained test prep professionals who use actual ACT exam questions to teach students effective strategies and skills to maximize their testing performance.
The comprehensive program emphasizes all ACT test components:Test Taking Strategies, Question Formats, Math, English, Reading Comprehension, and Science Reasoning. Students gain insight into strategies for succeeding on standardized tests and go through a comprehensive study plan.
Cindy Ehresman is the program manager of WKU Lifelong Learning which administers the test prep programs. She said the ACT Summer Institute is ideal for current high school juniors and seniors who want to ensure they receive their best score possible.
“The ACT can be intimidating for any student,” said Ehresman. “Being prepared can help students overcome the pressure and do their best.”
Ehresman said that the program is being brought to the WKU Owensboro campus to make it more convenient for students who live in Daviess County and surrounding communities.
“We’ve offered ACT test prep in the Bowling Green area for several years and have seen great success,” said Ehresman. “We chose to bring this opportunity to the WKU Owensboro campus to help students in the region to be fully prepared for the ACT exam on July 14.”
Many high school students will take the ACT exam that day. Students will complete their test prep and be able to take the exam two days later.
The ACT Summer Institute takes place July 9-12 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the WKU Owensboro campus. Course fees are $449 and include all classroom and online sessions and course materials. Fees include instruction, materials, as well as access to online review sessions and open office hours leading up to fall exam dates. WKU alumni, dual credit students, faculty and staff receive a $30 discount. Students should bring lunch each day.
