WKU in Glasgow Sets New Date for Spring 2020 Graduand Ceremony
Glasgow, KY – After having to postpone WKU Class of 2020 celebrations due to COVID-19 concerns, WKU in Glasgow has set a new date for Graduand, the pre-commencement ceremony for students who have completed at least one-fourth of their degree in Glasgow.
Graduand 2020 will tentatively take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the TJ Samson Pavilion Community Room in Glasgow.
Academic Advisor Stephanie Prichard coordinates Graduand for WKU in Glasgow and said that the date was set to coincide with WKU Commencement activities on The Hill, which are slated for September 18-20.
Prichard said that although this has been an unusual year, 2020 graduates will still receive the recognition they deserve for their hard work – just a few months later than usual.
“Graduating from college is a significant accomplishment,” said Prichard. “Our faculty and staff are determined to officially celebrate our graduates and recognize their achievements.”
Prichard said that the date is tentative, but she is hopeful that by September public gatherings will be allowed so the entire community can attend.
During Graduand, a student selected from their class will address attendees, faculty will recognize students from their academic departments, and staff will announce recipients of the WKU Scholar and WKU Spirit awards.
Graduand 2020 is listed on the WKU in Glasgow Facebook event page. Information will be updated as details are completed.
