I moved to Kentucky from Wisconsin in February, 1996, to pursue my Master of Arts degree in Student Affairs. I also worked full time in the Department of Housing & Residence Life. After completing my Master’s degree in 1998, I served in various other roles at WKU, including an Area Coordinator, M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Coordinator, UC175 instructor, and Assistant & Associate Director for HRL. I left WKU in 2002 to pursue my Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at Bowling Green State University, Ohio. While completing my doctorate, I worked as an assistant to the Chair of the Higher Education and Student Affairs program as well as a Greek House Director. I returned to WKU in 2004 and worked with Dr. Gene Tice and Howard Bailey, coordinating development and fundraising efforts within the division of Student Affairs. In turn, this was the focus of my dissertation research, “Development & Fundraising Efforts within Divisions of Student Affairs at 4-year Public Universities”.
After serving as Assistant Dir. for HRL (2006-2013), I was promoted to Associate Director for HRL. I became the Interim Director for the CTC in 2013 and was appointed Director, in March, 2015. I fully enjoyed serving WKU in both positions as they allowed me the opportunity to continue to work with faculty, staff, and students and put all of my educational preparation and experiences into practice! I continue to learn so much from the Counseling Center team and they certainly challenge and help to make me a better higher education professional.
I also serve WKU in a variety of other capacities as well as professional and service organizations. I have taught first-year University Experience courses as well as graduate courses in the Counseling & Student Affairs Program at WKU, serve on several university committees, present annually to the WKU Staff Leadership Institute, hold leadership roles within NASPA (for over 10 years), have served in leadership roles with SACSA (Southern Association for College Student Affairs), is involved with community organizations, a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and is a committed & passionate higher educational professional. I am also a devoted spouse to Mr. Michael Crowe (WKU Director of Student Conduct) & proud mom to our son Michael (III) – my most favorite “job”.
I have served as a Co-Facilitator of an Intergroup Dialogue Group focusing on race (facilitated 6 weeks of small group discussions between different groups (e.g. students of color and white students) and created a safe space for intergroup interaction to take place).
