I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved to Bowling Green in 2003 when I first enrolled at Western Kentucky University (WKU). I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Social Work (2007) and my Master of Social Work (2011) from WKU. My time at Western was transformational, providing opportunities for both personal and professional growth. During my undergraduate years, I became a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, joining on the WKU campus in the fall of 2006. I was also a member of the Amazing Tones of Joy gospel choir and enjoyed participating in a variety of other campus organizations and activities. These experiences allowed me to build lifelong friendships, develop my leadership skills, and deepen my commitment to service, community, and the values that continue to guide my work today.
My connection to Bowling Green and WKU has remained strong throughout my career. I have been fortunate to give back to the social work profession by mentoring and supervising both bachelor's- and master's-level social work interns in several of the positions I have held.
Outside of work, I am a passionate sports fan. My favorites include college basketball (Go Tops!), NFL football, soccer, and just about anything related to the Olympic Games. Go USA!
I bring extensive experience in community-based services, community mental health, crisis services, inpatient substance use treatment and rehabilitation, and private practice ownership and management.
As a therapist, I believe we are shaped by our life experiences—everything that has happened to us, both yesterday and long before. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where clients can be their authentic selves. Together, we explore the past, work toward healing, and identify the strengths and lessons that help us move forward with peace, purpose, and resilience.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), systems theory, and client-centered therapy. I am also trained in Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), allowing me to provide evidence-based care tailored to each client's unique needs.
As Director of the Counseling Center, I am committed to working alongside our dedicated staff to provide students with the resources, support, and compassionate care they need to thrive both academically and personally. My goal is to ensure that every student has access to high-quality mental health services that foster resilience, well-being, and success throughout their time at Western Kentucky University.
