Biography

Dr. Hoffswell is originally from the suburbs of Chicago, IL. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.A. in Speech Communication in 2009. He received his M.A. from Northern Illinois University in Communication Studies in 2011.  He received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Communication in 2017. Dr. Hoffswell currently teaches Persuasion and Introduction to Popular Culture.

His research interests are interactive media, digital communication, and pop culture studies.  He is currently pursuing grant funding to create an interactive media lab. His research focuses on how social identity interacts with and informs our behaviors and attitudes before and after exposure to interactive media.
