WKU Family Child Care Network

The February issue of The Family Child Care Chronicle gives family child care providers a simple winter activity that helps children name and talk about feelings by building snowmen with different expressions.

It also reminds readers that registration for the 2026 Family Childcare Network of Kentucky Conference on March 13 and 14 is closed and thanks everyone who signed up.

The Kid Corner section focuses on intentional interaction, with tips like watching before stepping in, using open ended questions, following the child’s lead, getting on the child’s level, using daily routines for connection, expanding children’s language, and reflecting on what worked. The regulation reminder encourages providers to keep handwashing a priority as warmer winter days can still bring illness spread.
