WKU Family Child Care Network

The April issue of The Family Child Care Chronicle thanks the Appalachian Early Childhood Network for hosting the annual conference and celebrates regional award winners, including Halie Heller, Maria Stines, and Margaret Saupe. The Kid Corner section focuses on Earth Day and gives family child care providers simple ways to teach children about reducing waste, reusing everyday containers in dramatic play, and recycling clean materials for loose parts play. The regulation reminder shares active supervision strategies for warmer weather, outdoor play, and transitions, including setting up clear sight lines, positioning staff, scanning and counting children, listening for safety concerns, anticipating behavior, and redirecting children when needed.
