The Family Child Care Chronicle: Vol 52, May 2026
- WKU FCCN
- Friday, May 1st, 2026
The May issue of The Family Child Care Chronicle opens with a message of thanks to Kentucky family child care providers for the time, energy, and love they put into their programs, especially those serving families in child care deserts or offering specialized care and extra support. The issue also recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month and reminds providers that quality care includes caring for their own physical and mental health. It notes how many roles providers fill each day and warns that burnout can build when self care is ignored. The newsletter shares mental health and burnout resources from NAMI Kentucky, Mental Health America, and the National Head Start Association. It also includes a regulation reminder that the training year runs from July 1 to June 30 for providers who have completed their first and second training years, and encourages anyone with training questions to contact their specialist for one on one help.
