ACM - News

Well it looks like me having a backup room has finally come in handy this week and besides a night class invading and occupying our meeting room, the meeting went well as always.

Most of the items on yesterday's meeting to do list were catch up related. Our two main SIGs for this semester, Robotics Hardware and Robotics Software, were unable to schedule times to meet the week before and so it was priority that we get those groups organized and ready to begin working on their individual projects. With that being said, we do have updates regarding those SIGs.

Robotics Hardware:

The Robotics Hardware group will be focusing on building and handling the control and navigation of any drones built for the over all robotics SIGs. This group is being lead by the fantastic JaMaur Lyons and so if you have any interest in this SIG please reach out to him for more details on how you can take part in it. 

Robotics Software:

The Robotics Hardware group will be focusing on constructing the learning algorithm that will be able to recognise the various pieces of trash that the drones of the robotics SIG will retrieve. This group is headed by the wonderful Dustin Avery and so if you have any interest in this SIG please reach out to him for more details on how you can take part in it. This group has also scheduled its first meeting time. Today! At 4pm today in Snell Hall B105 (the computer lab).

But you may be asking, "How am I supposed to contact them if I am interested?"

Well I'm glad you asked Rhetorical Joe, that brings us to the next thing we discussed at the meeting, Discord. Last meeting we decided on using Discord as our main source of communication for the club. Unfortunately we ran into some issues with permissions and so most users were completely unable to even view a majority of the channels after they joined. Well I'm glad to say this has now been resolved! Beyond that, not much was done admin wise for the meeting. We will be having our next meeting the week after Spring Break and will be discussing updates from the SIG groups, a possible upcoming game night, and a schedule for out guest speakers.
