Special Celebrations
At Western Kentucky University, several units celebrate graduates through special ceremonies and recognition events. Check back for dates on these specific events.
Held annually in the Spring, the Lavender Recognition Ceremony celebrates and recognizes the achievements and contributions of WKU's LGBTQ and Ally graduates from all races and ethnicities.
Thursday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. in Downing Student Union Auditorium
The Intercultural Student Engagement Center (ISEC) sponsors WKU’s graduation celebration for students who identify as Black, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American, or Multiracial. The event will recognize Fall 2024 graduates. Registration is required.
WKU commissions cadets as 2nd Lieutenants into the U.S. Army during the WKU ROTC Commissioning ceremony.

Mahurin Honors College Graduation Reception
Location: Lobby of the Honors College & International Center (HCIC)
Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 4-6 p.m.
Please join the MHC staff for a reception featuring hors d'oeuvres, an assortment of beverages, and a special graduation keepsake. At this event, you will be presented with your MHC graduation medallion, and professional photo booths will be available for commemorative photographs. This will be an open-house style gathering, with no formal presentations scheduled. The suggested attire for the event is business casual. RSVP is required.
