Student Accessibility Resource Center (SARC)

The purpose of SARC is to coordinate services and accommodations for students with documented disabilities.  Our most common activities include reviewing disability documentation, meeting with students to determine appropriate accommodations, and partnering with other areas on campus to implement these accommodations.

SARC strives to help students assume responsibility of their own educational experience.  We assist students along the way by providing access and opportunity in order for them to reach their full potential.

Counseling Center

We believe that the university experience should be challenging, not overwhelming, and universities have a duty to support students as they are being challenged.  The WKU Counseling Center is committed to promoting the academic mission of the university by providing a variety of psychological services by strengthening students’ capacity to tolerate stress, form healthy relationships, and seek healthy expressions of their ideals and values.  The Counseling Center also advances the university’s mission by providing educational programming, training, and consultation to the students, faculty, staff, and constituents of WKU.

WKU Identification Card

All students are issued a personal identification card (The WKU ID Card). The ID card contains a photo image, the student’s name, and WKU ID number. The ID card entitles the full-time student to general University services, like the entrance to the Preston Activity Center and WKU Athletics events. It will also be the card you use if you have a meal plan or dining dollars.

How do you get a WKU ID Card?

After completing TOP Online and registering for classes with your advisor, visit the ID Center on the 2nd floor of DSU. You must have a photo ID with you (such as a driver’s license) to prove your identity, and your WKU ID number.  If your card is lost or stolen, you may purchase a replacement for $20.

Student Activities and Organizations

College is more than academics. It's a time to learn about yourself and others, whether in or out of the classroom.  Students who take advantage of opportunities to become involved at WKU graduate from our institution at a higher rate than the ones who do not.  The Department of Student Activities works to provide co-curricular activities for those who want to become involved at Western Kentucky University.  Whether it is a student organization, student government, leadership programs, or Campus Activities Board (CAB) programming, there is something for each student who wants to become involved.

Student organizations at Western Kentucky University provide an incredible opportunity to meet new people, build leadership and event planning skills, share ideas, and make connections across campus.  WKU is the home to over 300 student organizations providing opportunities for students to engage with a wide variety of interests and activities.  This involvement can provide students a foundation for success, a passion for learning and a commitment to responsible global citizenship, while fostering creativity and service to others.  Organizations can not only provide membership, but a safe home from which students can pursue their passions.
