Summer Scholars

The WKU Summer Scholars Program is a five-week summer transition program. Students selected for the program will be prepared for their first semester at WKU and get a head start on coursework. 

The cost of the program includes:

  • Residence hall housing for 5 weeks

  • 10 meals a week 

  • Tuition for six credit hours 

  • Required textbooks for courses

  • Preston Center summer membership

  • One-on-one advising, student support, and development seminars

  • Social activities/outings for evening & weekend entertainment


Move In & Topper Orientation Program: Saturday, July 10

Classes Start: Monday, July 12

Program Ends: Thursday, August 12

M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan: Tuesday, August 17


No more than $500 depending on financial aid. Cost of attendance includes the following:

  • Housing and meals for 5 weeks
  • Tuition for two classes
  • Textbooks
  • Preston Health & Activities Center summer membership
  • Networking, tutoring, and mentoring
  • Social activities

All Summer Scholars students will take two classes that will count toward Colonnade/General Education requirements. The seletion of classes will be guided by factors such test scores, intended major, and course capacity.

Financial Aid

Students participating in Summer Scholar could be eligible for financial aid through the 2020-2021 FAFSA. You can use your 2020-2021 FAFSA without affecting your fall financial aid!
