Four mentored undergraduate research projects from Western Kentucky University were selected for the 24th Posters-at-the-Capitol on March 5, 2026, in Frankfort's Capitol Annex building amid ongoing renovations at KY Capitol.

The KY INBRE Student Development Research Award supports Dr. Smith’s mentorship of pre-med WKU undergraduate student Lily Newton and his research on the otoprotective role of melanin in the inner ear.

The Student Scholar Showcase portal is open for all WKU students to submit an abstract to present on April 11th. Faculty, staff, alumni, and community members may volunteer for the event.

WKU's FUSE Grant Program for Spring 2026 is open. Undergraduates can apply for up to $3,000-$4,000 to fund research/creative projects with faculty mentors. Apply by Oct 31, 2025, via SPIRIT portal. Visit FUSE website or email fuse@wku.edu.

The Fall 2025 FUSE Grant is now open! WKU undergrads can apply for up to $3,000 for research projects, travel, and materials. Earn a $500 award, college credit, and real-world experience. Apply by March 31.
