Dr. Monica Galloway Burke serves as the ONE WKU Fellow in the Office of the Provost at Western Kentucky University. In this role, she collaborates with campus partners to advance the university’s ONE WKU initiative by promoting engagement, collaboration, and opportunities that strengthen the educational and employment experiences of students, faculty, and staff. She also supports faculty and staff development through the ONE WKU Teaching Academy and ONE WKU Staff Academy, while working with university stakeholders to advance the goals of the ONE WKU campaign.

Established in 2019, ONE WKU reflects the university’s commitment to fostering learning, working, and living environments where every member of the campus community can engage, contribute, and succeed. Today, the initiative is co-led by Dr. Monica Galloway Burke, ONE WKU Fellow, and Michael P. Crowe, Jr., ONE WKU Engagement & Opportunity Officer, with guidance from the ONE WKU Campus-Wide Workgroup and collaborative partnerships across the university.

With more than 28 years of experience in higher education and student affairs, Dr. Monica Galloway Burke has dedicated her career to promoting student success, faculty development, leadership, and institutional engagement. Her scholarship focuses on college student development, helping skills, mental health and well-being, professional preparation, and creating supportive learning environments. She has authored and co-authored numerous books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and book chapters, including Helping Skills for Working with College Students: Applying Counseling Theory to Student Affairs Practice (first and second editions), Mindful Strategies for Helping College Students Manage Stress: A Guide for Higher Education Professionals, and Helping Students in Distress: A Faculty Guide.

Dr. Burke’s contributions to higher education have been recognized through numerous honors, including induction into the Southern Association for College Student Affairs (SACSA) Gavel and Gravel Society, the College Personnel Association of Kentucky Hall of Fame, and recognition as a University Distinguished Professor. Through her leadership, scholarship, and service, she continues to advance faculty excellence, student success, and a campus culture grounded in engagement, collaboration, and opportunity for all.
