Neena began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1980 working in long-term care, stroke rehabilitation, medical surgical nursing, and later teaching nursing assistant classes. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin) in 1989 with an Associate Degree in Nursing and over the next several years worked in various areas of nursing including intensive care, emergency nursing, newborn nursery, medical surgical nursing, and home health administration.
Neena began her teaching career in 1998 as a practical nursing instructor and taught for three years. She returned to emergency nursing in 2001 and also began classes for BSN. In 2003, she graduated from UT Martin with a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and continued working in emergency nursing and later in post-anesthesia and Outpatient services. In 2007, she started teaching Fundamental nursing skills at UT Martin. In 2008, Neena graduated with a Masters in Nursing Education from Walden University. She obtained a faculty position teaching Medical Surgical Nursing I and II at UT Martin and was also active on college and university committees and was a faculty advisor for the Student Nurses Association.
Since relocating to Kentucky in 2012, she has taught various didactic and clinical courses. Currently, Neena is coordinating and teaching Medical Surgical I classes, teaching simulation, Senior Practicum, and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. She completed a PhD in Education at Walden University in 2019 with an emphasis in Educational Technology. Her research interests include emotional intelligence, simulation technology, online learning, and nursing student attrition. She is an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Kappa Theta Chapter) serving as Secretary, Kentucky Nurses Association, Kentucky League for Nurses, serving as President-Elect, American Nurses Association, and Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education.
