Dr. Kara Haughtigan is an Assistant Professor and currently teaches in the Pre-licensure BSN Program. She graduated from WKU in 1989 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. In 1997, she completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and in 1999, completed her Master’s Degree as an Adult Nurse Practitioner at the University of Louisville. She obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice from WKU in 2016.
She began her teaching career in 2012 at WKU and currently teaches Concepts in Pharmacology I and II along with a Senior Practicum. Prior to teaching Dr. Haughtigan worked in critical care for 24 years. She has also worked as an APRN in Women’s Health and Occupational Health. She continues to practice part-time as a Nurse Practitioner in the primary care setting.
