International Year of Cuba: Vampiros en la Habana! (Vampire in Havana!)

  • Location: Cherry Hall 239
  • Time: 7:00pm

The International Year of Cuba is hosting a Spring semester Cuban film festival. All screenings are at 7:00pm. This program is sponsored by the WKU Office of International Programs, English Department, and History department.

¡Vampiros en la Habana! (Vampire in Havana!), directed by Juan Padron, is an animated film telling the comedic tale of the efforts of a Cuban trumpet player (and vampire) who runs afoul of a Chicago crime syndicate (run by vampires) that is trying to prevent the release of a formula that stops sunlight from harming vampires. This film is noteworthy for the music by jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, as well as its problematic, stereotypical portrayal of Afro-Cuban characters. (80 mins)

This film will be screened on Apr 25th in Cherry Hall 239.
