“Perhaps the most inspirational moments during camp were moments I did not foresee. Children may be the most easily influenced creatures on the planet, and due to their ability to feel things without judgment or external comprehension their spirits are powerful. This summer camp allowed me to dive in to their minds, and for that I will always appreciate the power women have and the power of our children.

“I wish we could do more for the children in one week, but it is such a short time to make such a large difference in their lives. However, at graduation the women that participated in the Women’s Camp inspired me greatly. I was so glad to see that the women had accomplished and gained so much from their experience.”

“But would I do it again? Yes. Definitely. I learn from my mistakes and strive to improve. What made the camp really worth it all was the graduation ceremony…. Everyone was so happy. The women were beautiful, the children and counselors sweaty, and everyone was having a good time. When the women got up and were giving their testimonies, I cried along with them. I was so encouraging to see just how much they were affected by the camp and what an emotional experience it was….. I am so proud to have been a part of this and know that I know what to do and definitely what not to do, I am positive I can make a difference in someone’s life next time around.”

“Looking back, I am so glad I decided to be a part of the 2008 Women and Kids Learning Together Camp. I expected to help teach the kids a week’s worth of activities and make a ton of memories. In reality, I probably got as much out of the camp as the kids did. By watching Travis throughout the week, I was reminded to slow down and appreciate the little things in life. So many times, I get caught up in work or school or whatever I have my mind set on at the time, but I, like most adults, forget to take the time to notice little things like the ants on the sidewalk. The simplest things captivated Travis, and I hope to always be reminded to appreciate these small details instead of being consumed with daily tasks. Though camp was one of the most exhausting weeks of my life, it was worth it to see Travis learn new things each day and approach each activity with complete enthusiasm. All of the counselors and coordinators put their hearts and souls into this camp, and I believe it really paid off. Everything went smoothly, and, overall, I would not change a thing next year. I had an amazing time working with all of the camp staff, women, and children who were at the camp this year, and, though there is still eleven months until the 2009 Women and Kids Learning Together Camp, I am already looking forward to being involved as a counselor next year.”

“Finally it was time for graduation and some of the kids got really emotional. I didn’t think I was going to cry but I did, the mothers were especially moving. You could see they were sincerely grateful and would never forget that week. At times I wish the camp could be longer and but I know how hard it is to get that first week together. Hopefully all of the counselors had as much fun as I did I always tell everyone how wonderful the camp is and I do plan on attending for the next few years.”
