Joseph Cangemi is Emeritus Professor of Psychology and Scholar-in-Residence at Western Kentucky University, where he has spent the last 40 years, teaching courses in business psychology, leadership dynamics, and organizational behavior. Early on he worked in the Caribbean and, later, in Latin America, he was employed in Venezuela in a leadership capacity with a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation. He has had consulting/advisory experience with the business/industrial sector, public and private political/educational entities, and the United States military. This work has taken him to most of the states of the United States, as well as to over 20 foreign countries. He is the recipient of several awards from Western Kentucky University, particularly from the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, for teaching, research and service and, in 1999 and 2000, he was Western's nominee (one of two) for the prestigious Carnegie Foundation Professor Of The Year national award. The business, industrial, and educational communities likewise have recognized him with various awards for his services.

He has been a featured personality in Organization Development Journal, the journal Education, and Indiana University's School of Education Chalkboard. He is the holder of two honorary doctorates, including one from Moscow State University of Humanities, Moscow, Russia, sponsored by the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is author, co-author or co-editor of numerous books and scores of articles published in a variety of languages both in the United States and abroad. He holds Diplomate status in professional counseling from a number of professional organizations.
