Lab Director
I was born in Nanfeng, a beautiful small town in Jiangxi Province in Southern China.
With one older sister, I grew up in a family who shares the passion for rice wine
and spicy food. After graduating from high school, I left my hometown for North China
Electric Power University (NCEPU). There I met Tao Chen who later became my husband.
After graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in English, I came to the United States
of America for further education. I studied Educational Psychology at the University
of Florida. There I received M. A. and Ph. D. in Educational Psychology. In the Fall
of 2008, I started my current position as a tenure-track faculty in the Department
of Psychology at WKU. I also became a mother in March 2009. Leah Chen is the love
of our family.

Graduate Research Assistant
I was born and raised in a small town (Ludington, MI) on beautiful Lake Michigan.
I attended Grand Valley State University in Michigan and that’s when I became fascinated
with psychology. I graduated in 2010 with a B.S. in Psychology. In my free time I
enjoy long distance running, reading, sports, traveling and wine. Currently, I am
working on my thesis examining the effects of perceived distance on test anxiety and
judgment.
