Are you ready to drop and give it all you’ve got?  The Push-up Challenge is here!  Push-ups are a great way to build upper body strength and endurance without needing fancy equipment.  Come into the Fitness Center and complete as many push-ups as you can in one go. You can compete as many times throughout the month as you want to add up your score! The male and female who have the highest total push-ups at the end of the month, plus two Raffle winners will win Mellow Mushroom gift cards.

 Rules:

  • Males do regular push-ups and females do modified or regular push-ups.
  • Notify a FC Attendant before participating.
  • Do as many push-ups as you can without stopping, observing correct form.
  • FC Attendant will record your score on the MOM Board and enter your name into the MOM Raffle.
  • Participate as many times throughout October to increase your score.
  • Patrons can participate once per day.

Join ORAC for our Monday Weekly Ride Series.  All rides will begin in front of the Preston Center and head to a different destination each week.  Enjoy exploring Bowling Green by bike!  ORAC has helmets to rent; helmets are required on the ride.

The Big Red Bench Off is an upper body muscular strength competition that will be held in the Fitness Center. Competitors will be allowed four attempts (maximum 20 minutes) to complete 1 rep max (RM) bench press test. The winner will then be determined by the highest percentage based upon their 1RM relative to their bodyweight. (1RM=300lbs, body weight=180lbs, 300/180=166.7%).

Sign up for the Big Red Bench Off starts on October 15th. Walk-ins are welcome, but subject to availability. To make an appointment, or for more information, stop by the Health and Fitness Lab (room 20A in the Preston Center).

All participants must sign a consent form/waiver!

Rules:

  • Participants must use a closed grip (thumb around bar)
  • The lifter must lie on his/her back with head, shoulders, and butt in full contact on the bench. This position must be maintained throughout the attempt.
  • Feet must remain flat on the floor at all times.
  • Participants must show control of the weight at all times while lowering the bar to touch the chest and back to full elbow extension (no bouncing!!)
  • A Health and Fitness Lab staff member will judge each lift. If any of the above criteria are not met, the lift will be invalid.

Join us on a two-day mountain biking trip in Kentucky and Indiana.  We will leave Friday afternoon and get a lap or two in before camping out and enjoying a campfire and good conversation.  Saturday we will get up and enjoy more mountain biking at Ben Hawes State Park and Scales Lake!  Bike and helmet rentals are available through ORAC.
