5K Challenge (April 1 – 30)

This Month's Muscle of the Month is the 5K Challenge. We encourage participants to complete a 5k (3.1 miles) as many times as possible throughout the month of April. Participants must use a treadmill located in the Fitness Center. The track and other types of cardio machines will not be accepted. There will be one male winner and one female winner earning $15 gift cards, along with three raffle winners earning $10 gift cards.  The more you participate the better chances you have of winning!

 Directions:

  • Notify fitness center staff before your attempt.
  • Use 5K option on treadmill to participate.
  • Walk/run 3.1 miles (5K) as fast as possible.
  • Once you completed the 5K, have staff member record time on the Muscle of the Month board.
  • Each time you participate your name will be entered in a raffle drawing for a prize. Three names will be drawn.
  • First place male & female will win prizes!
Tuesday, April 17th

  • Location: Bowling Green, KY
  • Time: 4:00pm

Join ORAC for our April Tuesday night weekly ride series.  All rides will begin in front of the Preston Center and head to a different destination each week.  Enjoy exploring Bowling Green by bike!  The first ride will be April 2 and the final ride will be April 30.  You must provide your own bike and helmet; helmets are required on the ride.

Wednesday, April 18th

  • Location: Clifty Hollow
  • Time: All Day

Spend the afternoon with ORAC as we head out to Clifty Hollow for bouldering instruction and practice.  Crash pads, helmets, and transportation are included in the cost.  No previous bouldering experience is necessary.

Friday, April 20th

  • Location: Horse Shoe Canyon Ranch, AR
  • Time: All Day

The Arkansas Adventure Programming conference is a student oriented programming weekend for individuals who want to connect with other outdoor educational enthusiasts. Conference attendees from the state of Arkansas can share ideas and practices while attendees from neighboring states can learn about what Arkansas has to offer. Whether you are a part of a seasoned outdoor program or thinking about starting a program, Arkansas Adventure Programming Conference is for you!  The conference is located at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, home to over 300 bolted climbing routes and over 130 bouldering problems.  Located next to the Buffalo River, Horseshoe Canyon Ranch and the surrounding area is a mecca for climbing, paddling, hiking, disc golf, and cycling.
