5K Challenge (April 1 – 30)

This Month's Muscle of the Month is the 5K Challenge. We encourage participants to complete a 5k (3.1 miles) as many times as possible throughout the month of April. Participants must use a treadmill located in the Fitness Center. The track and other types of cardio machines will not be accepted. There will be one male winner and one female winner earning $15 gift cards, along with three raffle winners earning $10 gift cards.  The more you participate the better chances you have of winning!

 Directions:

  • Notify fitness center staff before your attempt.
  • Use 5K option on treadmill to participate.
  • Walk/run 3.1 miles (5K) as fast as possible.
  • Once you completed the 5K, have staff member record time on the Muscle of the Month board.
  • Each time you participate your name will be entered in a raffle drawing for a prize. Three names will be drawn.
  • First place male & female will win prizes!

  • Time: 3:00pm - 6:00pm

Rules and Regulations

  1. All participants must fill out the appropriate paperwork.
  2. Three premier days will take place on
    1. April 4, 1:30-3:30pm
    2. April 5, 2:30-5:30pm
  3. The event will take place on Preston Center Blue Court #3.
  4. Walk-ins are welcome but participants can also sign-up in the Health and Fitness Lab in advance.
  5. Participants must complete all repetitions of each exercise in the circuit correctly to be eligible for prizes.
  6. This is a timed event.  The goal is to complete the entire circuit correctly in the least amount of time possible.
  7. Health and Fitness Lab employees will be judges in determining correct completion of the circuit.
  8. Winners will be determined by the male and female who complete the circuit the fastest.
  9. Participants can complete the challenge as many times as they would like.
  10. Participation in this event counts towards WellU credit and participants will also be entered into a raffle drawing.
  11. Results will be posted for public display, unless requested otherwise.

Exercises include:

  • Jump rope warm-up
  • Burpees
  • Dumbbell ground to overhead
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Lunges with plate overhead
  • Push up with knee-ins
  • Sprint a lap around the track

  • Location: Bowling Green, KY
  • Time: 4:00pm

Join ORAC for our April Tuesday night weekly ride series.  All rides will begin in front of the Preston Center and head to a different destination each week.  Enjoy exploring Bowling Green by bike!  The first ride will be April 2 and the final ride will be April 30.  You must provide your own bike and helmet; helmets are required on the ride.
