Admission to the College of Health and Human Services or University does not guarantee admission to the program. Acceptance into the HIM programs is based on a selective admission process and is based on space available. Applicants are considered on a competitive basis. There are no restrictions regarding age, sex, race, religion, disability, sexual orientation or marital status.

Karen Sansom earned her BS degree in HIM from the Medical University of South Carolina and her Master's degree in Public Health from Western Kentucky University. She is an active member of the Kentucky Health Information Management Association, the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS). She holds certification from AHIMA as a Registered Health Information Administrator and from HIMSS as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems. She is also an AHIMA Approved ICD-10 Trainer.
