By tradition, the commencement ceremony is a formal, dignified event to honor the academic achievement of scholars. To help preserve the decorum of the event, it is requested that you exercise etiquette appropriate to the occasion. Respect your fellow graduates by holding your applause until all graduates have been recognized. As a courtesy to your fellow graduates, all graduates are requested to stay until the conclusion of the ceremony.
Degree candidates who did not attend the Grad Fair may obtain their cap and gown from the WKU Store in Downing Student Union during normal business hours:
|Monday-Friday||7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.|
|Saturday||10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.|
|Saturday, December 9th||8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.|
The cap and gown may be kept by the graduate as a memento of the occasion. Candidates should allow sufficient time to iron or steam-press their gown prior to the ceremony.
WKU’s traditional commencement exercises are designed to honor the significant academic accomplishments of our students.
Many members of the academic community, faculty, administration and staff give of their time and effort so that these exercises will be a stately and memorable experience. The pride WKU feels in its graduates is reflected in the beauty and pageantry of this significant event.
