Bio
Sylvia S. Gaiko, Ph.D., is Associate Vice President for Planning and Program Development. Before joining the Provost office Sylvia was Associate Dean for five years in the College of Health and Human Services at WKU. She received her B.S. and M.A.E. from WKU and a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. Before moving back home to Kentucky, Dr. Gaiko spent five years at the University of Missouri-Columbia as a department head, and thirteen years prior at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Gaiko received the Regents Distinguished Teaching Award from Oklahoma State University (OSU), a student-initiated award given annually to six members of the approximately 1,300 OSU teaching faculty. She has also received the Public Health Excellence Academic Professional Award in recognition for work with the Department of Health and Human Services, and numerous advising awards at the graduate and undergraduate level.
