Jazz Ensemble
The Jazz program under the direction of Dr. Marshall Scott consists of two Big Bands, and also an Improvisation class. The 1st Jazz Band meets Tuesday and Thursday from 2:20-3:30, and the 2nd Jazz Band meets Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:15. The 1st Band does require an audition, while the 2nd Band recommends a familiarity visit/audition for placement.
Both Bands perform traditional standard repertoire to contemporary literature. Past jazz guests have included: Chris Vadala; Vince DiMartino; Paul Brewer; John Blount; Rob Parton; Roger Pemberton; Jamey Aebersold; Mark Vinci; Bill Sears; Roger Ingram; Sarah Marrow; as well as The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra; and WKU Alumni Beggie Adair, and Mike Longo.
