WKU Apartment Checkout
To officially check out of your apartment, complete an Express Checkout Envelope.
Students can get an Express Checkout Envelope at the front desk.
Student Responsibilities
- The student acknowledges that it is their responsibility to remove ALL personal belongings
and trash according to the checkout procedures. The university is not responsible
for any personal belongings left behind.
- The bedroom, bathroom and any shared areas must be left clean and in good condition,
with all furnishings in their original places to avoid assessment of additional charges. Failure to do so may result in an unofficial checkout charge of $150.
- The student understands that their bedroom, bathroom and any shared areas (if applicable) will be inspected for any change in condition and/or discrepancies from their original apartment inspection. The student may be charged IF the inspection results in a need for cleaning and/or repairs to damages.
Step 1: Prepare Your Apartment

Remove all trash from your apartment. Take large items to the designated dumpster near your building. Do not leave trash in the building.

Remove ALL personal belongings from your apartment.

Return the furniture to the original arrangement.

Sweep/vacuum/mop the floors.

Close and lock windows.

Set the thermostat to 70 degrees and the fan to auto.

Turn off the lights.

Lock your door.
Step 2: Check Out
Officially check out by completing the express checkout envelope and return it to the apartment front desk key box.
Your key must be returned at the time of checkout to avoid an additional charge.
