Mental Well-being

*Disclaimer: this page mentions suicide and mental health disorders like anxiety*

According to a 2019 study by the American College Health Association (ACHA), 87% of college students felt overwhelmed by all they had to do: 66% felt overwhelming anxiety, 56% felt hopeless, and 13% considered suicide. While WKU offers mental health counseling services, HEP is a great resource for students to have facilitated discussions surrounding mental health and learn ways to improve their mental well-being.

This presentation will meet the following objectives:

  • Students will be able to accurately define mental health and mental well-being.

  • Students will be able to describe how mental health problems negatively impact college students.

  • Students will be able to list methods that can be used to help improve mental health and well-being.

  • Students will be able to recognize symptoms of common mental health disorders in themselves and others.

  • Students will be able to locate resources on campus that can help with mental health problems.

To request a presentation, please contact Health Education and Promotion at healthed@wku.edu or call (270) 745-4491.
