Advice for new Hilltoppers?

Get involved. There are many different campus organizations for students to get involved with, from creative writing club to club sports teams. The Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Club, or ORAC, is a great way to meet people and explore the outdoors as well.

What does the WKU experience mean to you?

To me the WKU experience is about community and exploration. I met so many great people as an undergrad and got to experience some things I never would have tried on my own. There are many different opportunities on campus to meet other people who have similar interests or try something new. There are also several different organizations that facilitate exploration of the world. Western Kentucky University offers many study abroad opportunities and adventure trips to its students.

My favorite WKU tradition and/or memory is:

My favorite memory from my time at WKU was my spring break 2020. I went on a trip with the Outdoor Recreation and Adventure Club, or ORAC. They sometimes host spring break trips and in spring 2020 we traveled to Petrified Forrest National Park, Grand Canyon, Zion, and Great Sand Dunes. We camped in several different locations and made other small stops on this road trip. My favorite place from the trip was the Angels Landing hike in Zion National Park. This was never a hike I would have done on my own and thanks to WKU I was able to accomplish this hike and get the experience of a lifetime.

What is your favorite spot on WKU's campus?

The Colonnade in the fall or early spring. I loved being able to work on assignments outside. There are always many students out studying, working on projects, or just hanging out.
