Shauna Dever has her MFA in Dance from Florida State University and Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis Certification from IMS at University of Utah. Currently she dances in her own works and for DANCEe in Birmingham, AL. Along with teaching at WKU, she also teaches at the Owensboro Dance Theatre. Shauna has danced with Dance Repertory Theatre (Tallahassee), on scholarship with the Alwin Nikolais Legacy Workshop (Salt Lake City), and on summer scholarship at the Giordano Dance Center (Chicago).
Shauna’s teaching style culminates from her exposure to a wide array of learning and teaching experiences. Her technique ranges from in depth study of Graham, Taylor, Limon, Giordano, LMA, and Nikolais. She believes it is through this diversity and grounding that dancers become “thinkers” rather than just dancing bodies.
Shauna’s work has been invited to show at Alvin Ailey Studio (NYC), Big Range Austin Dance Festival (Austin, TX), DUMBO Dance Festival (NYC), the Nashville Fringe Festival, and the Louisville Ballet Summer Program.
