Obtaining Class Notes

Students registered with the SARC who have a note taking accommodation on file may utilize recording devices, note taking applications, or request a class Note Taker. The student is responsible for working in partnership with potential Classmates, course Instructors, and/or the SARC to secure class notes.

The First Steps:

  • Present your Faculty Notification Letter (FNL) to your Instructor. Refer to the FNL Information Page to find more information.

  • Start early! It is your responsibility to utilize assistive technology or to partner with your peers, instructors, and/or the SARC to seek out notes for your classes.

  • Ask a classmate to share notes with you. Notify the SARC of who is sharing notes so that the Note Taker can receive appropriate training and earn volunteer hours. You may use the class Announcement Flier to assist you in the search.
  • Ask your Instructors for assistance in identifying a potential Note Taker(s). They can provide a recommendation or make an announcement to the class on your behalf. Send the potential Note Taker to the SARC for training. Your Note Taker(s) can earn volunteer service hours!

  • If you are unable to secure class notes independently with note taking technology, through the help of a class volunteer and/or with the assistance of your course Instructors, you are invited to request assistance from the SARC.
