WKU is proud to offer a number of off-site open house events in various locations across Kentucky and Tennessee to allow prospective students a sneak-peek into what life at WKU is like. Gary Bogdon is a photographer and commercial director based in Orlando, FL.  A long time contributing photographer for Sports Illustrated, he has photographed every major sporting event in the United States multiple times, including the Kentucky Derby, ( 2013 was his 31st Kentucky Derby ) Super Bowl, Winter and Summer Olympics, NCAA Final Four, Stanley Cup, BCS Football National Championship, Daytona 500, Indy 500, World Series, NBA Finals, The Masters, World Cup Soccer, and even the Pop Warner Super Bowl.   Bogdon grew up in the Louisville, KY metro area., and is a graduate of  Indiana University ( BS Journalism '86 ) .  He's received numerous awards from various professional organizations including World Press Photo, National Headliner Award, and was a recipient of the IU Ross Hazeltine Grant ( where he worked on a documentary project in India ).
With over 25 years as a working professional, he has literally traveled the world from Russia, to India, Europe to the Caribbean and all over the US, as photojournalist. His passion is story telling, both in still and video, and horse racing is one of his favorite subjects to photograph.
Bogdon is married ( Santa Bogdon )  with two sons ( one at Vanderbilt Univ., and another in high school in Orlando ) , and loves to tell stories as well as mentor the next generation of photographers.
