Undergraduate are encouraged to highlight their discoveries, some of which may impact issues in our economy, both nationally and globally.

The event provides an opportunity for students to educate those who fund higher education understand why these experiences are so important while showcasing their cutting-edge research and scholarly achievements. The Governor, members of the General Assembly, and representatives from the students’ hometowns are able to engage directly with some of the state’s best scholars.

"The students at this conference are carrying out cutting-edge research," said Dr. Gordon C. Baylis, Vice President of Research at WKU. "This will prepare them for careers in research, but also is an excellent preparation for other careers: these students have shown themselves able to address and solve problems of the Commonwealth and the Nation, they will be leaders of a vibrant economy."

This event hosted collaboratively by Eastern Kentucky University, Kentucky Community and Technical College System, Kentucky State University, Morehead State University, Murray State University, Northern Kentucky University, University of Kentucky, University of Louisville, and Western Kentucky University, is intended to help members of Kentucky’s legislature and the Governor better understand the importance of involving undergraduates in research, scholarly, and creative work.
