Introduction to Psychology
Leadership Theory and Application
I received a B.A. in psychology and M.A. in clinical psychology from Western Kentucky University (WKU). After completing the master’s program at WKU, I earned licensure as a Psychological Associate and spent some time working as a behavioral health professional in the community. In 2013 I came back to WKU to join the staff of the Counseling and Testing Center (CTC) as a Staff Counselor. My passions reside within higher education and I feel extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to give back to the WKU community which has given me so much. In addition to my primary responsibilities at the CTC, I also teach various undergraduate courses part-time. For leisure, I enjoy spending time with my family, doing yard work, and playing music.
I view counseling as a collaborative process. Clients and counselors have varying areas of expertise they bring to this process. I consider clients experts of their own experiences and encourage clients to bring their areas of expertise into the counseling session. My job is to offer my expertise as a mental health professional to aid clients in reaching their goals. I believe the therapeutic relationship is a vital component of this collaborative process. Because of this belief, I strive to create a supportive environment which offers clients the opportunity to present their issues/concerns.
