Frequently Asked Questions
There is no cost to participate in Fraternity Recruitment. At the end of the week, there is a $30 bid signing fee, which pays for your Fraternity Bid Day shirt and other administrative costs. We keep the cost as low as possible and only to pay for expenses incurred through recruitment.
WKU prides itself for having a very organized Fraternity Recruitment. The Sunday before Recruitment Week (August 17th), there is a Recruitment Orientation where we will go over the schedule, answer any questions, etc. That same night, you will meet your Rho Alpha (Fraternity Recruitment Counselor) and also meet our chapters at “Meet the Greeks.” On Monday and Tuesday of Recruitment Week, potential new members (PNM’s) will meet all of chapters at their houses/designated recruitment locations; Rho Alphas will lead PNM’s to each location. On Wednesday, PNM’s may go wherever they like (we recommend going to no more than 5 houses). Thursday night is Preference Night and is by invitation only. Friday is Bid Day – PNM’s will pick up their bid(s) they receive and sign their bid card.
The deadline to register for 2025 Fall Fraternity Recruitment is Monday, August 18th at NOON Central Time (12:00 PM CST). It is highly recommended that you register well before this deadline as it gives chapters enough time to process your application and potentially contact you for events before Recruitment.
GRADES/TRANSCRIPTS
To participate in fraternity recruitment, you must be a regularly enrolled, full-time WKU student. For those with less than 12 attempted college hours, one must have at least a 2.5 high school unweighted GPA. For those with 12 or more college attempted hours, one must have at least a 2.5 college cumulative GPA. As you’re looking at your membership options, please keep in mind that some chapters may have higher GPA requirements for membership. FYI that summer scholars only take 6 hours, thus, we would use high school unweighted GPA to see if that person meets the GPA requirement. Only in the case where a person has 12 or more college attempted hours would we use college cumulative GPA
We use unweighted GPA’s for fraternity recruitment. We use the GPA listed in the WKU system software unless an updated transcript proves otherwise.
You do not have to submit your transcript, however, we highly encourage that you do submit your transcript. This leaves zero doubt what your incoming GPA is. Those who do not submit a transcript, we will use the grades in WKU’s Banner software system.
Once you have 12 or more graded college hours, we use your college grades. You may still put your high school grades in the recruitment form, however, college grades are used starting at 12 or more graded college hours. This includes all grades from prior institutions, dual credit classes where you received college credit, etc. We will use whatever WKU TopNet shows as your college GPA unless an updated transcript proves otherwise.
