Biography

Dr. Fred Carter is currently the Director of Teacher Services and School Relations and is a member of the Department of Educational Administration, Leadership, and Research at Western Kentucky University. He is in his fourth year in this role. Dr. Carter also serves as the mentoring coordinator for all new school superintendents in Kentucky though a contract with the Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Association of School Administrators. Dr. Carter previously served as the Deputy Secretary of the Education Cabinet for Kentucky following 34 years in public education. He has been a high school English teacher, a coach, an assistant principal, a high school principal, a district instructional supervisor, and a school superintendent.

Courses Taught

None currently assigned due to administrative role. However, Dr. Carter is a member of the Graduate Faculty and works with a number of Doctoral Students as a member and chair of their doctoral committees. He also serves on various university committees and represents WKU on various state level committees.
