The WKU BGCC
SUMMER EARLY ENTRY PROGRAM

success awaits you!

WHY:

The Council on Postsecondary Education now requires all incoming freshmen to begin taking necessary developmental course work within their first semester of attendance.

So why not take the classes you need early and be right on schedule with your classmates in the fall!

Plus, taking courses in the summer gives you special benefits, such as free tutoring, accessible computer labs, structured study groups, and the ability to get to know the campus, your classmates, and what it’s like to be in college before everyone else!

WHAT:

Course Offerings Include:

Fundamentals of Composition DENG 055C (3 credit hours)
Intensive course in the basic mechanics of writing, reading, and grammar, designed to prepare students for college-level work in English.
College Reading Strategies DRDG 080C (3 credit hours)
Preparation for reading at the college level. Emphasis is given to vocabulary recognition, comprehension, inference, and differentiation of reading requirements as related to different courses.
Basic Algebra Skills DMA 055C (3 credit hours)
Designed to assist students whose background in algebra is inadequate for success in Intermediate Algebra (DMA 096C) or for those who did not take Algebra I in high school.
Intermediate Algebra DMA 096C* (4 credit hours)
Prerequisites: Satisfactory score on ACCUPLACER test or Math Placement Exam; or completion of DMA 055C with a grade of ā€œCā€ or better. For those students needing algebra who do not have the prerequisite for MATH 116 or 118.
University Experience UCC 175C (2 credit hours)
Provides information about campus resources, thus empowering students to have a successful transition to the higher education experience.

*For students who successfully complete these courses this summer, spots will be held in the appropriate sequential course for the fall semester.

WHEN:

  • Classes will be offered during June and July at the WKU Bowling Green Community College.
  • Classes will not meet the week of July 5th.
  • Students are encouraged to take three classes.
