Sisterhood Spotlight - Natalie Raymer ('14, '17)

Natalie Raymer

Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a two-time graduate of WKU, and my mother, brother and sister are also WKU alumni. I received a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014 and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership in 2017. Although I am a proud aunt to 11 nieces and nephews, I am also a self-proclaimed “Dog Mom” who loves camping, traveling (especially to Disney World!), photography and baking. I recently purchased and completely remodeled a home in Glasgow, Ky. I am currently the Regional Central Intake Coordinator at Bowling Green Nursing and Rehab.

What does the WKU Sisterhood mean to you?
The WKU Sisterhood means empowerment. I love being part of an organization where women support other women while they are also supporting an institution of which we all have cherished memories. It is special to be involved with helping enhance WKU for future generations so they too can create memories of their own.

How long have you been a member of the WKU Sisterhood?
I have been a member for two years, and I was one of the first junior members.

How did you hear about the WKU Sisterhood?
I heard about the WKU Sisterhood in an unconventional way. During my time as an undergraduate, I attended classes at WKU in Glasgow. I served as Vice President of the Student Government Association at that campus in 2013. We were looking for support for the SMART Center at the Glasgow campus, and I submitted an application to the Sisterhood. I was asked to present at the Sisterhood’s Annual Luncheon and, although we did not receive funding for our project, I left there a completely different woman and was inspired by the women of the Sisterhood.

What is your favorite part of being a member of the Sisterhood?
My favorite part of being a member is the fellowship. In today’s society, it’s really comforting to have such a great group of women that you can look up to and learn from while also giving back to the WKU community.

Tell us what you would like to see in the future for the WKU Sisterhood.
As one of the first junior members, I would love to see more women join at this level of membership and become actively involved in giving back to WKU. For me, WKU completely altered my course. I would never have chosen my career path or been as vocal about my passions as I am had I not discovered myself while at WKU and also during my experiences with the Sisterhood. I would love to see more junior members join and find their voice and passion.
