WKU Sisterhood Spotlight: Kori Beck Bumgarner ('08)

Kori Beck Bumgarner ('08)  Kori Beck Bumgarner ('08)

Hometown: Bowling Green born and raised.

Current City: Bowling Green. I left to go to law school and ran home as quickly as I could haha!

When did you attend WKU? 2004-2008

What activities were you involved in as a student? Chi Omega, St. Jude’s Executive Board Member, and American Cancer Society’s "Relay for Life" Chairperson.

Do you have a favorite memory from the Hill? I love WKU and have spent my whole life attending sporting and various events on campus, but one of my most vivid memories from WKU is attending a baseball game one beautiful spring day during my final semester. Several of my sorority sisters and I walked to the game through the beautiful campus, and we all had a wonderful time!

Is there a Sisterhood moment that stands out to you or made an impact? My first meeting after joining was the luncheon where presentations are given and the funds are voted on and distributed. It was incredible to read the information about the candidates beforehand, and participating in the meeting was like nothing else I have ever experienced. To see how hard various groups on campus are working was inspiring as was being in a room full of women who share their love and support of WKU. In those moments, I felt so much gratitude for being included in the Sisterhood and knew that I would always be a member.

If you work, what do you do? I am the Commonwealth’s Attorney for the 8th Judicial Circuit.

Tell us about your family: I am married. My husband and I have two wild boys, Bronson and Walker B who are 5 and 3 years old, and two Labrador retrievers, Henry and Tilly. Our house is pretty chaotic most days, but we love it and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Do you have any passion projects other than WKU Sisterhood? I am also a member of the Board of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) and work closely with the Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center (BRACAC). Both of those organizations are near and dear to my heart. FEC works with families and the community with the mission of preventing child abuse. BRACAC provides a child centered environment that facilitates better prosecution of crimes involving child victims and provides therapy and other services to children and their caregivers.

Fun fact about yourself:  Oh my, I have no idea. Nothing! Haha!
