WKU Political Science Student Recieves Fulbright Scholarship
- Wednesday, May 14th, 2014
This upcoming fall, WKU student Allison Feikes will be traveling to Turkey to teach English on a Fulbright Scholarship. On the Fulbright website, the program is described as "ETAs are generally placed at newly-established universities, some of which are in locations that are far from major urban centers. The physical conditions and social expectations vary from place to place, and ETAs should be highly adaptable and conscientious about the particular context they are in. In some rural areas of Turkey, foreigners are still not commonly seen, which makes the ETA Program both very valuable, but can also make it challenging."
To be able to recieve such a prestigious award, Allison sent in an essay titled "Why Turkey" about how she will use her personal experience in Turkey. Allison has also built up an impressive resume in her time at WKU, with multiple internships for Senator Mitch McConnel, the Peace Corps, and the US mission to the EU in Belgium. On campus, Allison is a member of the Spirit Masters organization, Sigma Kappa sorority, College Republicans, and the Pi Sigmam Alpha National Political Science Honors Society.
If you see Allison on campus, be sure to congratulate her on recieving this prestigious scholarship!
