My teaching interests lie primarily in an exploration of cultural diversity in the United States, particularly in the areas of contemporary folklore, mass media, and foodways.  I seek to instill in my students a better understanding of the various ways folklore may contribute to a better understanding of individuals and society, and how it may be applied to help alleviate social concerns.
