College Readiness at WKU

WKU recognizes that earning a college degree is of paramount importance in today's world. Our overarching goal is to help our students achieve success in this important endeavor.   We are pleased to report that as a result of growing enrollments and steadily increasing retention and graduation rates, WKU is providing more students each year the opportunity to earn a college degree.  WKU's college readiness efforts focus on outreach to improve college readiness, persistence and degree completion for academically underprepared students. Our aim is to reduce degree attainment gaps where they exist.

WKU's placement of incoming students strives to place and advise students to maximize their success as University students. Our program areas and academic support units provide students with the best opportunity to learn the mathematics, reading, and writing skills required for success in college level courses in those areas.

Placement Testing

Incoming students whose ACT subtest scores in English, reading and/or math that fall below the state College Readiness Standards are required to take a placement test in those areas.
