Gatton Academy students, Lori Lovell (biology) and Paul Fleischmann (chemistry) undertook a public education initiative focused on unsewered subdivisions around Bowling Green, then followed up with a karst dye tracing project targeting septic systems, and a larger-scale public education effort before and at the recent Household Hazardous Waste clean-up day. Their project was selected as the best high school project in Kentucky entered in the Siemens "We Can Change the World" competition.
'Why Sharks Attack,' an episode of NOVA that premieres next month on public television, will include video footage shot last summer at WKU.
