Ms. Beth Hawke
Assistant Director, Student Life
Office: FS 303
I grew up in Hart County and completed a B.S. in human resources management at WKU. Following graduation, I spent five years in retail management with Walgreens drug stores in the Nashville, TN area. I began my career at the Gatton Academy in August 2007. Since returning to WKU, I completed my Master’s degree in Leadership Dynamics. My role at the Academy involves managing the residential side of the program. The safety and security of our students is always my top priority. Students may sometimes think my favorite phrase is “fire hazard.”
The most rewarding part of being at the Academy is watching students grow and mature. Watching students discover the things they are passionate about never gets old. Working with this population is never boring or dull. I encourage our students to strive to balance their academic lives with activities that benefit their overall well-being. I try to be a good example by striving towards my own increased physical fitness by working out on a regular basis. Just this past summer, I finally conquered my fear of the water and learned how to swim. Learning and exploring new things is just as important for adults as it is for our students. My goal is to always be available for our students to help make their time at the Gatton Academy the best that it can be.
