Events

Requests for on-campus events are reviewed by a committee comprised of representatives from Emergency Management, the WKU Police Department, WKU Restaurant Group, Academic Affairs, Enrollment and Student Experience, Athletics, Facilities Management, and more.  All event requests must demonstrate compliance with Healthy at Work/Reopening Kentucky requirements.  Final approval is granted by the WKU COVID-19 Taskforce.

Event Determination

All event requests must demonstrate compliance with Healthy at Work/Reopening Kentucky requirements and are subject to change/review by WKU's COVID-19 Taskforce.

The future return of medium- to large-scale events, and use of the WKU Conference or University spaces by outside organizations, remains to be determined. The ability to host such events will be determined by several factors, including:

  • State regulations in effect at the time
  • Size of the event
  • Event Venue: indoor vs outdoor
  • Ability to maintain social distancing requirements
  • Level of community disease transmission

Outdoor Events

When planning an outdoor event, please note these key considerations:

  • Individuals must remain in groups of 10 or less unless they have gotten permission to host an approved event by WKU Campus & Community Events or Student Activities.
  • Approved events may have 50 or fewer guests in outdoor spaces where there is mobility.
  • Each group must provide the name and phone number of an individual that they designate as a "safety officer" for the event to special.events@wku.edu. That person is responsible for keeping the event in compliance with Healthy at Work Guidelines from beginning through the end of the event.

Event Request

Requests for on-campus events are reviewed by a committee comprised of representatives from Emergency Management, the WKU Police Department, WKU Restaurant Group, Academic Affairs, Enrollment and Student Experience, Athletics, Facilities Management, and more.

Modifications to event plans, such as plated dinners vs buffets, will be followed to reduce COVID-19 transmission at events. These plan modifications will be determined during the event review process.

All event requests must demonstrate compliance with Healthy at Work/Reopening Kentucky requirements. Final approval is granted by the WKU COVID-19 Taskforce.

To submit an event request, contact special.events@wku.edu or 270-745-2497.
