I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a Minor in Women's Studies. My favorite time period of American history is the Progressive Era. I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Social Responsibility and Sustainable Communities with a Graduate Certificate in Gender and Women's Studies. I have been involved with Gender and Women's Studies at WKU for close to a decade. I have worked in restaurants, factories, banks, and retail stores, but most recently I found my home in education. I served as the Public Achievement Coordinator in the Institute for Citizenship and Social Responsibility and teacher assisted in Project Freedom School.

I have a great respect and care for students and civic engagement in higher education. I strongly believe when those without power become empowered sustainable and progressive changes will better our communities and campus.  My research interests involve women's labor related to gastronomic practices during the Progressive Era. I am also invested in researching service learning, feminist, and civic engagement pedagogies as teaching methods to create empowering classrooms. I have a deep interest in pop culture and media as well.

I am a mother to an 88 pound chocolate Labrador. I love to cook, camp, and kayak. I play a few instruments and greatly enjoy films and television shows. I love reading sci-fi and historical autobiographies. If I could meet one historical figure it would be Ella Baker. If I could meet one literature character it would be Harry Potter. My favorite musician is Miles Davis and my guilty pleasure is Miley Cyrus music!
