2016-2017 Parking and Transportation Overview

Residents – Students living on campus

New for 2017

  • Limited permit sales for all Housing zones on main campus.
  • Sunday transit service for residents parking at South Campus.

Permit Options

  • Alumni Square Garage (AS) - $240/yr (sales limited)
  • Premium Housing (H1-H4) - $220/yr (sales limited)
  • Non-Premium Housing (H5-H9) - $110/yr (sales limited)
  • South Campus Housing (SC) - $50/yr

Car Free program – For residents who choose to leave their cars at home

  • Students enrolled in the Car Free program receive discounts on transportation services provided, such as free access to GObg public transit, discounted enrollment to the Enterprise CarShare program, and discounts on airport shuttle service.
  • New for this year: We are working with the campus community to link students enrolled in this program to on campus employment opportunities.

Commuters – Students living off campus

New for 2017

  • Expanded C1 park and ride lot on Morgantown Rd.
  • Russellvile Rd/Morgantown Rd corridor will be served by the Red Line.  Service for the Russellville Rd West Lot will continue Spring Semester 2017.

  • Main Campus Commuter (C1) - $100/yr  (sales limited)
  • South Campus Park and Ride (C2) - $50/yr

Faculty/Staff – Employees of the University that are not full time students

New for 2017

  • Due to changes in how Housing permits are managed, faculty/staff permits are no longer honored in Housing lots.
  • Expanded FS1 parking options on Normal Street and College Heights Blvd.
  • FS3 parking in the Adams Street Lot will be reconfigured when the CVS project is underway.  The amount of parking available there will remain the same, but it will be in a different area.

  • Reserved Parking (R) - $655/yr (sales limited)
  • Gated Parking (GH & GR) - $400/yr (sales limited)
  • Alumni Square Garage (AS) - $240/yr (sales limited)
  • Premium Parking (FS1 & FS2) - $220/yr (sales limited)
  • Non-Premium Parking (FS3) - $100/yr
  • South Campus Park and Ride (C2) - $50/yr

Public Parking

  • Public Pay Lots – Four public parking lots are available on campus.
  • Meters – Meters are distributed throughout campus for short term parking.
  • Visitor Permits – Visitor permits are available at the PTS office.
  • South Campus – Free parking for visitors is available at Campbell Lane.  Check in required at the PTS office.

Topper Transit

New for 2017

  • White Line Express – Sunday transit service to Main Campus for residents parking at South Campus.
  • Red Line serves Russellville Rd West and Morgantown Road C1 lots.  Service continues in Spring 2017 for Russellville Rd West.

Transit Route Overview

  • White Line– Weekdays service connects Main Campus and South Campus.  Includes stops on Creason.
  • White Line Express – Sunday service to Main Campus for residents parking at South Campus.
  • Red Line – Weekday service connects Main Campus with downtown Bowling Green.  Includes stops on Center Street and Russellville Rd/Morgantown Rd.
  • Green Line– Evening service connects Main Campus with South Campus and off-campus shopping centers.
  • Green Line Express– Afternoon service connects South Campus with off-campus shopping centers.
  • Purple Line– Late night service connects Main Campus with downtown Bowling Green and Campbell Lane off-campus housing.
  • NextBus – Use NextBus to track when the next bus will arrive at your bus stop.

Additional Services

  • Disability Parking – A WKU disability parking permit is required to park in disability spaces on the WKU campus.  Disability parking permits are issued at the PTS office.
  • Paratransit Service – Curb to curb service for faculty, staff and students with disabilities.
  • GObg – PTS sells semester passes for GObg, Bowling Green’s Public Transit system.
  • Enterprise Car Share – Members rent vehicles parked on campus by the hour.
  •  Airport Shuttle – Shuttle service to the Nashville International Airport (BNA).
  •  Motorcycle Parking – Motorcycles and scooters must be registered with PTS.
  •  Bicycle Parking – Bicycles must be parked at designated bike racks.
