Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship: Theatre & Dance


The Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship is a competitive award, based on the requirements of the department in which you apply. Award amounts are between $1,000 and $9,000 per year, renewable for four years (8 semesters total). Here's how to apply if you are a high school senior, and plan to major in one of the degrees listed below.  

How to Apply


Step 1

Apply and be accepted to WKU by February 1st.

Please keep in mind that WKU must also receive your official high school transcripts by February 1, 2019 as part of this process.

Complete the TopDollar application by February 1st.

Choose a Discipline, Audition or Interview

If you are a high school senior and you plan to major in the B.A. in Dance, or the B.A. in Theatre, or the B.F.A. in Performing Arts (with a concentration in Acting, Musical Theatre, or Theatre Design and Technology), you are invited to apply for the Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship through the Department of Theatre & Dance below:

All students interested in pursuing the B.A. in Dance need to audition for placement into the program.  Your audition at that time will also count as your Creative Arts Scholarship audition.  The department offers two Saturdays each year when students can come to campus to audition.  Video auditions are also possible. If you are interested in costume design, lighting design, set design, sound design, technical direction or stage management you will interview for the Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship.

If you have a general interest in theatre, or are interested in directing, dramaturgy, playwriting, or youth theatre you will interview for the Potter College Creative Arts Scholarship.

Retaining Your Scholarship

Scholarships are renewed annually.  Terms for renewal include full-time status, good academic standing (a cumulative GPA of 3.0+), and maintaining an approved arts major (see above).  Individual departments may have additional policies.
